A Middle-Earth Dream: Rachel & Tom’s Wedding at Hobbiton Movie Set, New Zealand

Some weddings feel like they belong in a storybook. Rachel and Tom’s day, set among the rolling hills of the Hobbiton Movie Set in New Zealand, was one of those rare and magical celebrations. It was a wedding full of wonder, heartfelt moments, and Tolkien-inspired beauty.

A Wedding Years in the Making

Tom had dreamed of this wedding long before the planning began. Years earlier, he and Rachel visited Hobbiton on a trip through New Zealand. As they wandered through the Shire, he quietly imagined coming back—this time to marry the love of his life.

From that moment, a plan began to take shape. Eventually, it turned into a celebration unlike any other.

Elvish Elegance in Every Detail

Rachel created her own Elvish wedding dress, inspired by the timeless grace of Tolkien’s world. Not only did she design it herself, but she also crafted the matching jewellery to complete the look. As a result, she looked like she had stepped straight out of Rivendell.

In addition, every detail of the day reflected their shared love for fantasy. From the soft natural florals to handmade touches, the styling felt intimate and meaningful.

A Ceremony in the Shire

The weather, fortunately, was perfect. Soft sunlight poured across the hills as Rachel and Tom exchanged vows beneath the iconic Party Tree. Because the scenery was so breathtaking, every photo felt like a still from a film.

After the ceremony, we explored the set together. We captured quiet portraits near Bag End and shared plenty of laughter along the way. Meanwhile, guests wandered the Shire, soaking in the dreamlike atmosphere.

Celebrating at the Green Dragon Inn

Later, we made our way to the Green Dragon Inn—the perfect spot to celebrate. The pub glowed with candlelight. Guests raised their mugs, and music filled the space. It was warm, joyful, and completely magical.

As the night went on, the party grew even more vibrant. There was dancing, laughter, and storytelling deep into the night. In short, it was a celebration worthy of song.
