Katie & Sean’s Farm Wedding Celebration in Dargaville, Northland
A Wedding Celebration Full of Heart
On a quiet family farm just outside Dargaville, Katie and Sean gathered with their loved ones for a wedding full of meaning. This wasn’t their first ceremony—but it was their chance to celebrate with everyone they couldn’t include the first time around. Because of that, the day felt even more special.
From Family Friends to Forever
Katie and Sean’s story started through long-time family friends. Years later, they were reintroduced by Sean’s brother and his girlfriend. From that moment, everything fell into place. They clicked quickly and began dating with real purpose—knowing early on that this was something serious.
While on holiday in Rarotonga, Sean proposed. The moment happened at sunset, with their feet in the sand and the waves nearby. It was quiet, romantic, and completely them.
Planning a Life Together
At the same time they were planning their wedding, Katie and Sean were also house hunting. When they found a home they loved, they didn’t want to move in before getting married. So, they held a small, intimate ceremony at Sean’s family home. Only close family and their bridal party were there.
Because many friends and extended family couldn’t attend, they planned this second celebration—a full wedding day in the countryside where everyone could join.
A Laid-Back Northland Wedding
The setting—a peaceful farm outside Dargaville—offered the perfect blend of simplicity and charm. The Northland landscape did most of the decorating, but Katie still added her own creative flair. She did all the floristry herself, designing bouquets and arrangements that reflected her natural, relaxed style.
Instead of a formal dinner, they opted for a BYO picnic. Guests brought their own food, while drinks and dessert were provided. This made the meal feel communal, casual, and stress-free. As a result, people spent more time chatting, relaxing, and enjoying the fresh country air.
Katie’s dress, from Bank Street Bridal, was a beautiful choice. It matched the tone of the day—elegant, yet easygoing, and perfect for a celebration on the land.
Photographing in Northland
As a Northland wedding photographer, this was a dream setting to shoot. The light was soft, the landscape wide and golden, and the couple completely at ease. While the details were simple, the emotion ran deep—and that’s what makes photos last.
From their beachside proposal in Rarotonga to a celebration under the Northland sky, Katie and Sean’s journey has always been guided by love, intention, and a strong sense of home.
